A boy. A paper plane. An unforgettable adventure.

In this family-friendly show from critically acclaimed theatre company Animal Engine (Petunia and Chicken, Darlings), a lonely boy needs a friend — so he folds one out of a piece of paper! When his paper plane flies too far, it's up to him to journey across land, air, sea, and even outer space to find it — and grow up along the way.

All performed in breathtaking detail by one actor on stage, Animal Engine Co-Artistic Director Karim Muasher, without a single word. Created in collaboration with visionary director Ryan Underbakke (Children's Theatre Company's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Live Action Set's Seven Shot Symphony, Taous Khazem's Sunrise at Midnight). With original music by whimsical composer John Hilsen.

Inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupery's world famous novel Le Petit Prince, Windsor McCay's groundbreaking comic strip Nemo in Slumberland, and any story of children going on fantastical adventures. The show is extremely visual and appropriate for audiences of all ages, though it is best suited for ages 8 and up.

The Bald Soprano, by Eugene Ionesco

When Bobby Watson first moved to London, she never imagined what adventures waited in store. but whether it's her host of kooky relatives or her gorgeous dead husband, Bobby's search for love can't be stopped! With endless supplies of cheap Rumanian yoghurt and Manchester only a train ride away, enjoy Ionesco's classic tale of a commercial traveller in the big city!

It’s a typical morning in a small American town — until a rhinoceros charges down the street. No one is really alarmed, but Berenger soon discovers everyone around him is turning into a rhinoceros – his friends, his co-workers, the townspeople. He’s desperate to save them but no one will listen, until he’s left alone to question what it is to remain human in the face of the trampling herd. Provocative, funny, and frightening, Ionesco’s most renowned work has become a classic parable of social conformity – and human nature.

by KEITH HUFF directed by ELLEN FENSTER

featuring DUSTIN BRONSON & PETER CHRISTIAN HANSEN

A STEADY RAIN is a harrowing journey into a moral gray area where trust and loyalty struggle for survival. A dark diologue filled with sharp storytelling and biting repartee, A STEADY RAIN explores the complexities of a lifelong bond tainted by domestic affairs, violence, and the rough streets of Chicago. Joey and Denny have been best friends since kindergarten, and after working together for several years as policemen in Chicago, they are practically family: Joey helps out with Denny's wife and kids; Denny keeps Joey away from the bottle. But when a domestic disturbance call takes a turn for the worse, their friendship is put on the line.

“Keith Huff's A STEADY RAIN offers one of the most powerful theatrical experiences in many seasons.” —Backstage

“A tale of friendship, loyalty and betrayal that keeps you guessing about where guilt truly lies to the final line.” —The Guardian

Guys on Ice

Book and lyrics by Fred Alley, Music by James Kaplan

This charming play tells the story of two ice fishing buddies from Northern Wisconsin who talk and sing about life, love, and the one that got away.

From their ice fishing shanty, long-time pals Lloyd and Marvin keep warm with a mutual appreciation for good bait, cold beer, and the Green Bay Packers. As Marvin anxiously awaits his opportunity to appear on a cable TV fishing show and share secrets of his life on da lake, Lloyds ponders a recent squabble with his wife concerning plans to spend their anniversary at Lambeau Field. Both pals scramble to protect their cold ones from fellow angler Ernie the Moocher.

With musical numbers like “De Wishing Hole,” “Ode to a Snowmobile Suit,” and “Fish is de Miracle Food,” Guys on Ice will charm your wool socks off. The Green Bay Press-Gazette said, “It’s Wisconsiny. It’s also surprisingly touching.”

Hugh Butternut, Buzz Maxwell, and Bobby Bean tell their rags-to-rags story earnestly, with hysterical results. Butternut is a musician, a vulnerable soul with a lounge lizard smile; Maxwell is an uncertain magician with an attitude; and Bean is an irrepressible, all-over-the-map entertainer with big dreams. The laughter is infectious and the comedy appeals to everyone from first graders to college students to baby-boomers to grandparents.

By Tracy Letts
Directed by Matt McNabb

Superior Donuts takes places in the historic Uptown neighborhood of Chicago, where Arthur Przybyszewski runs a donut shop that has been in his family for sixty years. Franco Wicks, a young African-American man, and Arthur’s only employee, wants to modernize the shop while Arthur is more content to spend the day reminiscing about his Polish immigrant father.

Described as a “…soulful play, full of humor and humanity” by Variety, this provacative comedy-drama by Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize–winning author Tracy Letts explores the challenges of embracing the past and the redemptive power of friendship.

Letts' play is also the inspiration for the recent hit CBS comedy starring Judd Hirsch and Katey Sagal.

Intended for mature audiences.
