for A Woman Called Truth 

 Monday, August 20th - 6pm

Sojourner Truth, a slave, rose to become a respected leader for abolition and women’s rights. Her historic speech “Aint’t I a Woman” still resonates today. Be a part of this historical drama.

LOCATION:  YPC - 3338 University Avenue SE, Minneapolis

                  3rd floor of the "Art & Architecture Building"

CASTING:  Need 12 actors, ages 13 & above

 All races and ethnicities encouraged to audition.

Roles to be filled include:

     Sojourner Truth - black female with forceful speaking and singing voice   

      Ensemble/Visual Chorus - open 

              *Sojourner's Mama, Sissy (a fellow slave) & more - black female

              *Miss Neely (slave owner), Mrs. Gedney (quaker woman), & more - white female

               *Peter (Sojourner's brother), Bob (her husband), & more - black male

               *Baumfrey (slave owner), Dumont, & more - white male

               *Dumont (slave owner), Reverend (Quaker) - whilte male

SHOW RUNS:   September 29 – October 14, 2018


  • Prepare a 1 minute monologue/story and a short song (16 bars) to be sung acapella
  • Bring a headshot or photo and resume’
  • Non stipend positions.
