Perspectives Theater Company presents:
SISTERS AND BROTHERS
ABOUT THE SHOW
"Let's play House! You will be the Brothers and we will be the Sisters!" Inspired by Antigone and the Movement for Black Lives, SISTERS AND BROTHERS uses the tools of children's imaginative play (dress-up clothes, toys, storybooks, games, etc.) to process the trauma of black childhood. We are interested in exploring resonating themes - family, law, order, politics, protest, morality, justice, death, grief - through the safety of play.
Sister 1: plays Antigone/Oedipus/others
Sister 2: plays Ismene/Tiresias/others
Brother 1: plays Eteocles/Creon/others
Brother 2: plays Polynices/Haemon/others
*All characters are black; gender is open.
We are looking to cast 3 non-union actors. One brother is cast, but exact roles will be settled once we have an ensemble. This work is ensemble-driven. Some parts of the story will be scripted ahead of time and some parts we will devise together.
