The Orchard Theater Collective is looking for 5 classical/choral singers for their upcoming production of "Thomas Tallis" by Jessica Swale. Directed by Anna Leverett, Music Direction by Michael Donley.
About the play:
Originally written for the Sam Wanamaker at the Globe Theater in London, "Thomas Tallis" is a portrait of the life of one of Britain’s most successful composers set against the tumultuous political backdrop of the renaissance. Living under four monarchs, Tallis was forced to adapt his compositions to suit their religious demands, but at what cost? In Swale’s vividly imagined play, we follow the interwoven fates of Tallis and other citizens of England at the time. The play features a live choir singing the works of Tallis throughout the performance.
About The Orchard Theater Collective:
The company that brought you "A Doll's House" at the James J. Hill House this past December brings you their second production, "Thomas Tallis". The Orchard wants to re-imagine how the stories of the past can apply to a changing world. Along the way, they hope to help build a community that thinks deeper, laughs longer, and experiences new voices telling familiar stories. While that's their hope, they promise to provide a unique, high quality artistic experience to people of all walks of life within and around the Twin Cities.
