Philly Developmental, LLC announces auditions for a developmental lab and presentation of Philly. Music and lyrics by John Cal, book by Kevin Coughlin and John Cal.
Lab and presentation will be held in Minneapolis from Sept. 4 - 29, 2018. Special union contract provided.
Seeking actors for the following principal roles:
JOHNNY CALACUCCI. Mid-20’s. Must be able to play basic guitar or bass. High Baritone / Tenor Vocals - Strong Vocal Range E3 to a full A4 Belt. Energized - Passionate Optimist - Engaging - Great smile - Has an innocence about him.
PHYLLIS “PHILLY” SCARPETTI. Latina or White Female - Mid-20’s. Dark Hair - She's all about the voice - Big - Solid - Lower Alto Voice up to a D5 Belt. Attractive – Distinctive – Strong confident attitude and vibe. Energized – Passionate – Engaging.
RONNIE THOMPSON. Mid-20’s. Very Comedic. Quirky – Cute – Nerdy. Tenor Vocals - Strong Vocal Range E3 to a A4 Belt. Basic keyboards a plus. He's an accountant by day, a rockin’ keyboard player by night.
LITA SANTOS. Woman of color. Mid - Late 20's. Strong Mezzo Soprano - Range A3 to a full D5 Belt - Rhythmic - She's the daughter of Immigrants - 1st generation American. Street smart and tough.
ERWIN GETZ. 40’s-50’s. Baritone - He's a NY / NJ Mafioso. Intimidating tough guy who can also be comedic at times.

Auditions will be held in 15-minute time slots at the Old Log Theatre 5185 Meadville, St., Excelsior, MN 55331.
Actors should prepare the following:
· A contemporary one-minute monologue.
· 32 bars of a song selection that demonstrates vocal tone, range, and style. Please bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided.
· If auditioning for Johnny or Ronnie, a demonstration of instrumental capabilities. Please bring instrument (electronic keyboard will be provided).

Philly is an original musical based on a true story. In development since 2012, Philly has been staged twice in Minneapolis and was further developed as part of a 29-hour reading in New York City. The developmental lab will further advance Philly towards a regional tour and/or Broadway.
