Teaching Artist: Twin Cities, Duluth, and Rochester

Dance, Musical Theater, Actors, Arts Educators, Teachers

Are you outgoing, energetic, and like working with children? We are looking for dancers, actors, arts educators, and teachers who enjoy using theatrics to engage students. If you want to use the arts to empower student’s lives then we want to hear from you. We use social dance as a vehicle to teach social and emotional learning skills to 5th and 8th graders. Ballroom dance experience not required--all training provided.

The Dancing Classrooms program is a 10 week social and emotional learning (SEL), arts-in-education program teaching ballroom dance to children during their school day. Our mission is to build social awareness, confidence and self-esteem in children through the practice of social dance. Now in 30+ sites worldwide, DC was founded 25 years ago in NY and has been featured in several films, including the award-winning documentary Mad Hot Ballroom and Take the Lead starring Antonio Banderas. Brought to MN in 2015 by nonprofit Heart of Dance, the program since has served over 4100 5th & 8th graders across the state. We are auditioning for local Teaching Artists to teach in Twin Cities, Rochester and Duluth schools.
