Kara’s current news
Kara is currently promoting her latest film, 'fifteen' in film festivals.
Kara started out on the stage, but in her teen years started working more in film. At 21 she moved to Los Angeles, but after living there for almost two years she soon got tired of the toxic "get famous" vibe out there (and the actual toxic smog) and moved back to Minnesota to make movies with a message. Instead of waiting around for Hollywood to change, she has joined the ranks of filmmakers out there working to change the stock narrative on women in front of and behind the camera. Her latest film, 'fifteen' recently won Best Coming-of-Age Film at the Frozen Film Festival in St. Paul, MN. The film also garnered her the Loren Savitsky Young Filmmaker Award at the Big Water Film Festival in Ashland, WI. She is sending her work across the pond as well. Her extremely personal film, 'daily mantra', screened in London, UK with the Shorts on Tap series in March. Her goal in 2018 is to get back to her roots and get back on the stage as well as make a series of short films.
