Biography

Twin Cities credits include Orphan Train (History Theatre), The Language Archive and Henry and Alice:Into the Wold (Park Square), Girls Only: The Secret Comedy of Women (Hennepin Theatre Trust), My Mother’s Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding (MN Jewish Theatre), Iris and Maria/Stuart (Red Eye), Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf (Pioneer Place), Noises Off (Paul Bunyan Playhouse), On Golden Pond and Dancing at Lughnasa (Yellow Tree Theatre), Don't Dress for Dinner (Gremlin) and A Snowplow Named Desire  and Twerking Around the Christmas Tree (Brave New Workshop).  New York and regional credits include the national tour of Animal Farm: The Puppet Musical (Synapse Productions), Over the Moon (Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center), Manfest Cabaret (New Georges), and her original solo play Trip (Provincetown Playhouse, winner of the Jig Cook Playwriting Award).  As a playwright, Melanie’s work has been produced from New York to California, and at least a couple of places in between.  She is also a company member with Science Live at the Science Museum of Minnesota where she can often be found pouring lava, freezing things with liquid nitrogen, or creating theatrical history in her many-layered portrayal of a raindrop.
